Ever since seeing the pilot, I wondered if the series if post-apocalyptic.There are certain aspects of the series that make me this such as the show's setting and thematic elements.
1. The world itself. When I saw a map of the world in the show, I saw neutral territory which suggests to me this is a war torn world. Also, the danger zones and Mad Sam are both analogues from Mad Max although the danger zone has more sci-fi and fantasy elements to it. It is known Mad Max is post-apocalyptic. Also, many areas outside of civilization in the show seem to be desolate.
2. Robot conquest- In many dystopian or post-apocalyptic works, robots conquer if not exterminate biological entities like in The Terminator franchise or X-men: Days of Futures Past comic storyline. I think Boxman's central role as series's antagonist until Shadowy Venomous and T.K.O's collaboration confirm this. Even though in the final episode robots are shown to inherit Boxmore, and new robots are created. The robots may not be the strongest villains, I say Cosma is.(She can literally eat astronomical bodies like planets. Even Galactus and Moro don't literally eat planets) Still though, the robots' consistent antagonistic presence throughout the series (except Boxbot Prime) do indicate a post-apocalyptic theme to me.
3. Crinkly Wrinkly- On his page it says he's lived through apocalypses and three doomsdays.
These are just observations I made. I can't definitively say what my post-apocalyptic statement is true.(Although, I think it is) What do you all think?
